How to Change the Battery in a Cadillac Key Fob

Most Cadillac models from 2014 and newer use battery-powered key fobs to turn the car on and off. As with anything, these batteries will wear out with time and eventually need to be replaced. How to Open Cadillac Key Fob: 2014 & Newer

A new Cadillac key fob was introduced with the 2020 CT5, but it’s functionally the same as the key fob included with Cadillac models since 2014. Regardless of the vehicle you drive, the process of a Cadillac key fob battery replacement is largely the same. Just follow these steps:

1. Locate the release button on the side of the key fob case. Press the button to open the case and remove the metal key.
2. Remove the key, and you’ll see a little opening. Use a flat-head screwdriver to separate the side of the case and you should see a circuit board on one side and the battery on the other.
3. Carefully remove the old battery and replace it with the new battery. A proper Cadillac key fob battery replacement requires a CR2032 battery. Make sure the new battery is placed with the positive side facing down.
4. Pop the case back together, and all set to hit the streets of Eastland!
