How Often Should You Rotate Your Tires?

Chevy Mechanic Working on Tires

Knowing when to rotate your tires can not only save you money by helping your tires to last longer, but it can help keep you and your family safer on our Mineral Wells roads. How often should you rotate your tires? For most cars, rotating tires once every 6,000-8,000 miles is a good rule of thumb, but that can vary. We know your family’s safety is important to you. It’s important to our service department, as well. That’s why we’ve put together the guidelines below on how many miles to rotate tires.

How Often Should You Rotate Tires on an All-Wheel Drive?

All-wheel drive vehicles are becoming more and more popular with Eastland drivers. Is tire rotation different for this kind of drivetrain? How often should you rotate tires on an AWD vehicle as opposed to an FWD or RWD vehicle? Tire rotation doesn’t vary all that much by drivetrain, but the order in which to rotate tires does. And tires on an AWD vehicle should only be done by a professional. We break down our tire rotation frequency by drivetrain below, as well as how to rotate your tires:

When to Rotate Tires by Drivetrain

When to Rotate Tires on a Dually Truck

A dually pickup has six tires instead of four, with two rear wheels on each side. The tires on this kind of truck need to be rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles, like with most other vehicles. But the order in which the tires are rotated is different. Follow the steps below:

Dually Pickup

  • How many miles to rotate tires: 6,000 to 8,000 miles or every six months
  • Front left tire: rotate to rear left (outside)
  • Front right tire: rotate to the rear right (outside)
  • Rear left tire (inside): rotate to the front left
  • Rear left tire (outside): rotate to rear left (inside)
